The option of verifying your pages or accounts on Facebook is quite old. A small blue tick next to the name in the account indicates the account is verified. The same type of option is now available in another popular social media Instagram.
Now users of Instagram can verify the authenticity of their accounts. Reuters reports that Instagram has recently taken such steps to keep the world’s one of the biggest social media platform free from fake accounts. At present, this platform has more than a hundred crore users.
Kevin Sistrom and Mike Krieger established the popular photo sharing app. Facebook bought Instagram in 2010. For a long time, followers have been competing to establish a personal brand in this app. Now, by putting a blue tick, it will verify the Insta account as its established brand.
On Tuesday, Instagram opened an option to get the badge. There are no specific criteria for verifying the applicant’s account. Authorities said that the company is launching a feature named ‘About This Account’, which shows users what advertisements are running from an account, account is being used from which country, what changes have been made in the last one year, and other information will be displayed.
Instagram co-founder and chief technology officer Mike Krieger said, “It is very important to keep away from the people who have bad motives from our platform; This means that those who follow you, the people you are communicating with, the identity they give is that they try to make sure, and to stop the bad guys before doing any harm.”
In an online post, the Instagram authority wrote, “Verified” means a tick, which will be added next to the name of Insta account. This means that Instagram ensures that the account is the right person, celebrity or brand representative.
To verify your Insta account, you can follow three simple steps:
- After logging in, go to the profile and press the three line bar in the upper right.
- From there go to the Settings option at the bottom of the screen. Scroll down from the settings and get the Request Verification option.
- Enter your full name there and apply for ID verification with photo ID. In this case, government issued passport, driving license or any card, you can use. Authorities will review it after submitting them.
However, the authorities mentioned that the application does not mean that the page being verified will not be verified. If the application is received or canceled, it will be notified with notification. The Verified sign will not be added to all profiles. Those who use Instagram for business or celebrity and popular person, they will be given the Verified sign.
The Request Verification feature has not yet started reaching to all accounts. However, Instagram authorities confirm that the feature will be available to all users soon. Wait a few days for this option and update your app.
